La Hoya Ski Resort and mountain activities center is located close to the town of Esquel, province of Chubut. Its name derives from the mountain shape, which is a wide glacier circular basin, where all ski runs join at the same point at the base.
In the 1930’s, pioneer skiers from the region discovered this attractive natural formation and began to visit the mountain. Today, it is the perfect place to enjoy sports and nature since it is in a privileged location, surrounded by wonderful lakes such as Futalaufquen and Menéndez, in Los Alerces National Park. Right in the middle of the Patagonia, there are also other attractions such as a trip in the mythic steam train called “La Trochita”, or maybe a visit to the Welsh community of Trevelin, where old customs prevail among these people and their famous desserts and sweets.
La Hoya’s ski tracks were specially designed for skiers of all levels. However, its most outstanding feature is the possibility of enjoying off-track ski and snowboard activities, which makes this resort one of the best off-track ski centers in South-America.
The town of Esquel, 15 km away from La Hoya, is the main service center for this resort. |
